About Social Work
Social workers show empathy, care, compassion and give support to individuals, families, populations and communities identified to be in need of support through the promotion of socio-economic wellbeing, human rights and dignity and social justice in an ethical way by facilitating access to support that alleviate identified hardships.
Social Workers as an agents of change for the good of individuals, families and society give hands-on support to enable and empower Service Users to: cope in crisis, live independently, access additional support and improve their lives.
The 2014 International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) General Assembly and the General Meeting of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) approved Global definition of Social Work Profession:
“Social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people. Principles of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respect for diversities are central to social work. Underpinned by theories of social work, social sciences, humanities and indigenous knowledges, social work engages people and structures to address life challenges and enhance wellbeing. The above definition may be amplified at national and/or regional levels.”

Our purpose is to support Social Workers to keep supporting Service Users to improve their lives by maximising the potential of Service Users to access support, live independently and participate in their community.
Our Vision
Our vision is driven by our knowledge of the effect of the transformative power of professional helping on individuals, families and communities. Our vision is to support Social Workers and Social Work Students to keep carrying out their professional helping role in an anti-oppressive and ethical way.
